Hello!we'd like to announce and point interested parties toward femslashex (and femslashex.dreamwidth.org) -- the new annual femslash exchange replacing femslash[year] and run by at least one rarewomen participant! Femslash nominations and requests are open to ALL fandoms, so feel free to spread the rareness!
Had a chance to read your gift fic? GOOD!Nothing in this post is mandatory, but hopefully it will encourage participation and feedback! After all, there are many ways to participate in fandom and in story exchanges. The listed items are light suggestions of possible ways to participate in this year's rarewomen. You might want to challenge yourself to participate in a way you hadn't considered before! If you participate in a way we haven't listed, feel welcome to share with us in the comments! Whether you click one or all of the boxes, rarewomen is here for and because of you. I thank each and every one of you for keeping this exchange alive and growing.Check back in the comments of this post for links to more fanwork and to rec posts! As for the comm itself, it's time for the mods to be quiet and let these women speak for themselves (via your stories!). We'll be back next year -- look for posts to start popping up around February -- and we might even have a surprise or two before then. Thanks for a fabulous exchange!

Here's how I participated in rarewomen 2013
I plan to...
Firstly, you guys are absolutely awesome for the last minute slew of treats. I was dreading looking at the archive, and then: multiple gifts for our last minute requests. Everyone has a story. And the archive is live. We have 230 fics this year (all about awesome women, of course), which is roughly a 100 more than last year, in 213 different fandoms. Go on, read, rec, and enjoy. Here's a link to the tumblr post spreading the word.
As the archive opening draws near, we still have two recipients who have no stories in the archive. I am posting their requests here, in case anyone is inspired to write some treats from their requests while we wait for their writers to come through. ( Requests for: The Borgias, Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner, Kinght's Fee - Rosemary Sutcliff, Ivanhoe - all media types, and Sword at Sunset - Rosemary Sutcliff. Collapse )AND( Requests for: Legend of Korra, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.Collapse )
Sorry, but I got your attention, didn't I? Lots of you have had questions about WHEN EXACTLY the archive will be opening.Well, we are still waiting on four pinch hits. When we have everything, we will open. We are HOPING to open at 12:01 AM, May 5, Central Time. That is in roughly THREE HOURS. So: if you have last minutes edits and treats, do them now-ish. At the VERY LATEST we will open twelve hours after that, at 12:01 PM, May 5, Central Time. When the archive goes live we will post to let you know -- so keep an eye on your email for notices of gifts and keep an eye here for the general notice!Counting down...
is what this is turning into, anyway. :) Sorry for the late responses to emails today -- I've been knocked out with the stomach flu (gimmie a break, TPTB!) all day, but ready for action now. At least, mildly seasoned internet action.A few open requests for your perusal...*** AN EMERGENCY RE-PINCH ***Fandoms are Doctor Who '05, 15th Century RPF, Henry IV, and A Song of Ice and Fire( anything completed by May 4 will be cherished and adored but email me to officially claim!Collapse )And a few beta requests:( Read more...Collapse )Email me, firstname.lastname@example.org, with what you'd like to help with. For beta offers, include the number I've assigned here. Also include your AO3 name! Thank you!
Hi! As April turns into May, we're roughly four days from the opening of the archive. WHOA! Another HUGE shout out to our pinch hitters and beta readers -- you've made this process run smoothly so far, and without major incident! Keep rocking! If you need help, PLEASE ask. We will try and get it for you**. The best way to get ahold of us right now is email@example.com -- I can check it from my phone at work. And you! The WRITERS! Do me a huge favor and log into archiveofourown.org and look at your story. Has it been edited? Does it have an ending? Did you accidentally upload the file that is just a bunch of letters and numbers in random order? Okay, now check and see if the story is a DRAFT. Make sure to POST your story properly -- because unfinished/unaccessable drafts put you on the list of people banned from next year's exchange. You put in hard work! You wrote words! Make sure we can see them, come archive opening.Remember: the archive won't go live until EVERYONE* has a story. *who wrote a story for the initial exchange**Uh, within reason. Please don't email and ask for the still-warm body of the Kingslayer.
For each of these, please send your offer to help or pinch to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your AO3 name. Also include what you are wanting to work on! (A no-fuss email might look like this: aphrodite_mine requesting pinch #34)Open beta request( Read more...Collapse )Open Pinch Hit( Read more...Collapse )
Unless you have been in contact about an extension, or were assigned a pinch with a separate date, you will be defaulted shortly.Pinch hits are also going out shortly!
Still in my inbox with no response so far:1. A beta request for The Hour. Author requests someone with canon knowledge. To offer your help, email email@example.com with your AO3 name. Thank you, epic volunteers!2. The following pinch hit. To offer to write, email me with your AO3 name, and the due date you think you'll need.( Read more...Collapse )There will be more pinches and beta requests going out today (and tomorrow, I suspect) -- so check out those email lists. Anything that lingers with no response will also be posted here, but wouldn't you like the extra time to write? :D
